Graduation Day & Makeup Goodies

Graduation Day & Makeup Goodies

YAYYY!!!!! Finally graduated. Officially!!!! When they called my name and I actually walked the stage is when it felt real.  For some reason, while doing my last quarter, it shocked me to see my name on the projector for graduation.  It felt like I wasn't expecting to see it or something.  And even when getting my cap& gown and doing all the things leading up to graduation, it didn't feel real either.  It was more like going through the motions but when the actual ceremony took place is when it actually felt like omg. im graduating!!!

It was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and it was great!  Beautiful ballroom, refreshments and food for the quest.  Very upscale and nice!
Then I made a mini celebration after with pink cupcakes and pink champagne! ^_^  and got a few goodies too that I wanted to share!!  I got one of those big bags full of goodies.  Don't you love those?  It was a bag with a mix of things and a few makeup goodies I'm exciting to share.

I got some Chocolate! lol Candles! lmao. that is such a female present but yep got some of those in there.  Some cash and a few other little things.
O yeah.  I got some beautiful flowers too.  I don't know why I was shocked when my uncle gave me those too.  I guess I was just really out of it or something. But I loved it. I love flowers actually! on the regular.

I mixed the two bouquets so now it's one big pretty bouquet. & here is the goody bag I got.

And here is the first make up goody and my fav!

This lip-stain is my faaaav! Love it!  I put it back in the packaging to take the pic but it's been in my person since I got it and I've literally been wearing it everyday! lol All other lip-stains I've tried are drying and don't last.  This one is smooth.  As smooth as lipstick just about last literally all day.  I went to sleep and woke up and my lips were perfect.  No joke!  If you are in the market for a lip-stain, try this brand for sure.  For first time users, you will need to buy a makeup remover to remove it too. It wont come off with soap and water.

I also got these nail kit things.  Here is one of em.  I like the different wands and will deff give this a try! =]

I also got this one with the little pen tool that you can make dot designs with! =] deff will give this a try too.  This also looks like the pen people do rhinestones with but I'm not sure.  But if it is then double yay!! lol

& lastly I got these eco brushes.  I think I seen these at Ulta or somewhere.  I've definitely seen these somewhere and always wondered about them and now I got em! So deff will give these a try too.  I've heard they are good quality also so we will find out wont we?  A girl can never have enough make up brushes.  I'm definitely over due so that I was really happy about that gift.

So yes.  My graduation summed up briefly in an article.  So happy to be a graudate of 2014!!!

xoxo T

Random Bloggity Blog

Random Bloggity Blog..
(Battle of the bulge)

So last week and during this weekend I went dress shopping for a very special dress and it was a slap in the face kind of experience.  But let me explain.. I think I have to do a back story kind of thing before I just get into this story.

So pretty much, I've always been kind of a chubby girl.  On the facts about Trixie, one of the facts was I'm 180 and 5'7 in height.  I wouldn't say I'm fat but chubby yes lol.  Hefty if you will.  Ever since puberty, I've always had a little extra weight on.  But also, I hold my weight very well I think.  Anyhow, due to recent stressful events in life that I won't get into in detail, I've put on some MORE recently and it's soo annoying!  I've also been breaking out in a strange way.  I will say.. I'm not the type to care about a bikini ready body and abs and this and that, it's just not me but I do care about my health and also weight as far as being at a weight that I personally am comfortable with being at is concerned.  I wouldn't mind being a curvy girl but there is just a certain size I'm personally comfortable at if that makes sense.  I've never talked about my weight issues on a public scale like this and I mostly don't even talk about it in my personal life either because I guess on a day to day, it's just not something I think about in some ways.  I just try to be healthy as best I can and try and have an active lifestyle and that's it.   But lately, that hasn't been cutting it or actually, that hasn't been cutting it for awhile lol and recently it REALLY hasn't been cutting it and I know I need to make changes.  I don't know.  When I think about my lifestyle, I don't feel like it's the worst but I mean I don't know.  For the past two to three years I been training for a couple times throughout the week which is said to be healthy when you do something 2 to 3 times a week. At first it was 2 and then I pushed it up to 3 and that went on for about a year maybe and now I'm back down to 2 times a week.  I don't ever have soda or even juice in my home.  I don't eat things that are the basic chunk foods like candy, chips, donuts, burgers, not even sandwiches or any of that stuff.  I rarely have fast food and mostly eat home things like curry which is basically meat and vegetables.  I also cut out eating at night because that was a really big thing.  I kind of love eating at night but I know how bad it is for you.  That's like the worst habit and I'm not just saying that because it's said to be the worst habit.  I say it because I know it from personal experience.  You wake up feeling awful and just nasty.  I even cut out rice! =((( and I love rice! My sensei never eats rice or bread or anything with his curry because he's a health freak so I started doing the same in hopes that it would help me and so far nothing.. except I do at least feel much better when I don't have those things which has kept me doing it.  I guess it just doesn't agree with me. But anyways It feels like, what more can I take out?? It couldn't get anymore bland than that.. honestly.. so annoying!  Everyones body is truly different and I still haven't managed to find a right balance for myself in that department.  That's the one thing in life where I've never really had a hold of it. Also..

I've come to a recent mini revelation in my life and that is I love food! lol I love eating and that's that.  I also come to terms with the fact that I'll probably never be skinny.  It's just not in my deck of cards.  You can't love food and be skinny I think. lol Those two just don't go together.  I was telling my friend the other night, I'd rather be chubby and happy than skinny.  Fuck the bullshyt! lol.  Food is just too good. I guess I can't control myself.  That's nothing to be ashamed of either.  Some people just love food.  But also I feel the need to say that just because that may be the case, it doesn't mean I won't feel beautiful and dress up and glam up and take pictures of myself and love myself just because I put on extra weight or just am a chubby girl.  I still bought a beautiful for myself which brings me back to the original starting point of this blog that I forgot about because I was rambling so much lol.  I went dress shopping with my mom and literally nothing fit! >=(((  We went to soo many stores.  I think it took like 5 hours in total.  It was so sad.  No dresses fit.  I went to my favorite glitzy store and I got like two dresses to go to the dressing room and the lady was like " Oh. no no no. ( she was an Asian lady) These no fit you. I get you different size.ok?"  Not in a nasty tone.  She was very nice and helpful but still. I was like. oh ok. sure.  So she got me the same dresses like 3 whole sizes up! &... it fit like a glove! I just felt like wtf! wtf is going on here! My mouth was literally open. I'm breaking out.  I'm fitting dresses that are 3 sizes up, not 1 size, 3 sizes bigger. And when I got some heels to go with it.  I went a size up in that too! =((( For those that don't know.. you can also gain weight in your feet.  And I guess I did because no heels were fitting in my normal size.

This isn't the end of the world.  This is really a first world problem but at the same time I know many girls or just people who would feel like the world is caving because they gained or lost muscle mass to that degree.  I was pretty sad that day though.  It felt like a little reality check I guess. But back to my habits..  I don't even really have a bad lifestyle.  I just don't know.  I'm not the type to be consumed by things like this too.  I don't want to go on some rigorous thing that feels like consuming and work out a consuming amount of hours per day feeling like I'm gonna have a heart attack and like think about everything I eat. I will NOT count calories lol. That is just so ridiculous to me. O me. The life I live.  I just don't know...

But I won't just be like oh well either.  I need to find a solution for myself.  I forgot to mention that within that time span of 3 years, I was training everyday for like a month of it and then working out myself for like two months and in that time I remember like loosing 2 pounds or something.  I was proud of myself but it was like damn..  That' s it? lol Needless to say, I quit after that because the results were just too little for how much I was doing.  At that time, I created work outs for myself at home which was cool for awhile but after time got annoying.  There's only so much space you have and so much equipment and yada ya so I was just over it basically.  But I've decided to look into getting a gym membership.  Basically that all led up to me deciding that that's probably what I'll do next and also keep training at the dojo like I've been doing and hopefully that works.  I wanna try for a month and see how it goes.  Maybe I'll do an update too.  I like to do that to hold myself accountable.  I would like to go everyday because It feels like that's what I would need honestly.  So yes.  I feel good about this decision.  And we will see how it goes! ^_^

xoxo T

Smashbox Full Exposure Palette Review!!!

SmashBox Full Exposure Palette Review!!!

I went to Ulta the other day and I came across the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette.  Saw it, tried it, looved it!!! If your a make up junkie like me, this belongs in your collection NOW!  Here's a look inside =)

They've claimed "It's the palette to end all palettes. & the little black dress of eye make up." lol  That's a pretty big statement lol but I wouldn't say it's too far off. It's a gorgeous all neutral palette!  I think every girl should have at least one palette like this.  This is what you call a classic kind of palette(as far as the colors are concerned).  So if you are looking for a classic or timeless kind of look, this is definitely the way to go.  The top are the shimmer shadows and the bottom are all matte.  The colors are stuuuning!  It's just creamy and shimmery, high quality and beautiful!  This was definitely the best pallete at Ulta!

I did some swatches for you guys so that your able to somewhat see the consistency but pictures never really do things justice in my opinion. They just never do for makeup or anything.  But here are a few shadows that were my fav.

I think the consistency comes out pretty good.  My favorite shadow is pretty light though which is the one farthest to the left but it's still super beautiful in person.  It's like a rose gold and it feels very vintage and glamorous.  All of the colors just look shimmery and magical.

I also like the approach to this palette. It comes with 14 shades and ones that are universally flattering so they look beautiful on all skin shades. For it, they studied 5,000 different eye shapes and put together a custom look sheet so you get the most out of the palette and make your specific eye shape look the best in can look.  There's also looks for day and night which is so cool I think!

I am also just as excited about the brush as I am the actual palette. Its a dual sided brush that is specific for shimmer shadows and blending!  Here's a close up of the brush.

To the right is the big round and soft blending brush.  To the left is a flat brush optimal for packing on the shimmer shadows. But wait! There's more!  This brush has a reverse side so half the bristles are white and the other are black for the shimmer brush like so.

This was a system designed so that you don't mix the dark and light colors!!! genius! who ever came up with this idea, freagin genius!  I feel like all brushes should be like this one and I feel like they will all be that way in the future just because it's a completely more efficient brush in my opinion.

The down side =(

It's a pretty pricey palette. $50 dollars to be exact. But in all honesty if you have the means, worth it!  Worth it! Worth it! Worth it! lol

I actually never tried Smashbox though I've always seen it.  I guess it never really appealed to me.  I'm more of an urban decay girl but I definitely had a change of heart.  I also tried a Smashbox lipstick in Electric Pink.  My lips were hella dry..  As they always are for some reason when I go to Ulta.. specifically.. lol  Like they didn't feel dry necessarily and if someone were to see them with no lipstick you wouldn't even know but that's the thing about make up.  It can hide flaws but it can also accentuate them too lol.  A double edge sword if you will.  That's why you see girls with these lip scrubbers and exfoliating products lol. Because it actually is necessary.  Anyways, the color was still gooorg!  Super pretty and just like hot. yeah. Hot is the word.  In a sentence to describe these products, the palette is beautiful but the lipstick is hot!  Here's a swatch.

Isn't that hot! lol  This is a kind of lipstick you wear when you want to be hot!  It's a type of lipstick you go out with your girlfriends in.  This is like a night on the town lipstick. hot mama lipstick! lol So yeah, definitely a fan of Smashbox now! =)

Did you enjoy this review?  Let me know in the comments below & happy Sunday ladies.. & lady boys!!!

as always,

xoxo T =)

Nicki Minaj: The Pink Print (Anticipation)

Nicki Minaj: The Pink Print (Anticipation)

Preface

"The Music Industry is merely a representation of human nature.  It shines light on what's different to learn and take from it and once there's nothing left to take, it moves on with no regard."

"Every single mainstream artist that ever was was not "just" a person making music or just a commodity.  They are a movement.. and are something WAY bigger than themselves whether they are aware of it or not."

Insert

"When I heard some recent music, the feeling I got collectively was there is this no holding back kind of feeling.  It feels like this is specifically about art.  It feels like vanity out the window,  punchlines and radio friendliness out the window, and also male friendliness out the window."

So this article today is about the upcoming release of the album "The Pink Print" from Nicki Minaj.  I was in the car and I hear " I still love, I still love, I still love, I still love, I still lo o oove" on the radio! lol.  Had no idea it was Nicki Minaj until I hear Big Boy and her having an interview saying that this was her NEW single.  Right away I was like, OK, this Saturdays article MUST be about this new album!  It took me a minute to put this together because I had to do my research you know.  So this Saturday has been Nicki Minaj'd out with all her new music, articles, recent interviews to see what she's saying about this new album.

First, I'll just say that I loove this title!  I love the name The Pink Print because it reminds me of The Blue Print. What it makes me feel is that this album will have A LOT of information on it and a no holding back kind of feeling about it.  When I heard some recent music, the feeling I got collectively was there is this no holding back kind of feeling also.  It feels like this is specifically about art.  It feels like vanity out the window, punchlines and radio friendliness out the window, and also male friendliness out the window.  I think that it's an interesting direction and I can't wait till it actually drops to hear more music and also see how the public responds to it.  In recent interviews she's said the album is a stripped kind of feeling.  She also said all the stories on the album are 100% true!  So I'm excited to hear what she talks about!

Honestly,  I am a Nicki fan and not just because I like her songs.  I am a Nicki fan because I like to see women like her in the industry.  Even if I didn't like her music, I feel like I would still like Nicki Minaj the celebrity and business woman if that makes sense.  I like to see women like her and women she's paved the wave for like Iggy Azalea and others that aren't even in the same form of entertainment.  I like to see the things she does and what she's planning to do next in her music career.  It's sad because we are in a generation where it's sooo unbelievably fast paced in some ways and we just hear something or see something and discard it afterwards.  We love artists and then we don't.. and for some reason at this time, there is no such thing as recognizing someones talent and accomplishments.  This especially goes for mainstream people.  It's like if someone is mainstream, they all of a sudden are talent-less and are just a commodity because they do commercial things to appeal to the mass ie you.  Why is someone talent-less because they do things that appeal to you?  ..

I personally would never want to be in the music industry for a number of reasons and that is one of them.  I'll stick to makeup and graphic design thank you very much lol.  There is no winning in that kind of game.  It HAS to be about just the art in the end.  Celebrities of today are in such a different ball game than those of the past.  I don't think the people in music in the past would get any of their recognition if they were in the same music industry but in today's time.

Anyway, I am excited for her new album nonetheless! ^_^ and of course I will be supporting my girl because that's what women should do!  Even if you don't like her music, you should just support other entrepreneur women.. as I always say.  So I will be lookin out for the Pink Print and possibly do an album review right here on TrixieLuxx!

                                           xoxo T

Easy Peezy How to: Contour =)

Easy Peezy How to: Contour =)

If you don't know what contouring is, then be prepared to have your life changed!  Contouring is something that many girls do and something that every woman in Hollywood has been doing for years!  I think Marilyn Monroe had these tricks down before a lot of us did lol.  She always looked so beautiful and radiant and this article will teach you how to do the same!

What Contouring basically does is slims your face and changes facial features to what you want them to look like!  It's why you could swear some of your favorite celebrities had a nose job in one pic or they just look soo different and more than likely that was due to this very technique.

How contouring works
The way contouring works is basically shadowing areas you want to be minimal while highlighting areas you want to be seen.

You can go from this..

Very Tired and Drab.. to this!

LOL!  I used the funniest pics but you can see the clear difference right?  I think she looks beautiful in all these pictures but makeup just helps you look your best I think!  It makes you look awake' and alive' and just highlights your best!

This pic can give you the jist of how its done visually.

Big Difference right?  So whats happening here is you are taking a shade of cream/powder that's darker than your skin and place it in the areas that you want to be sunken in as you can see in the 2nd picture.  A popular place to do this is in the middle of your cheek to create an illusion-ed chiseled jaw but really you can do this anywhere you want! And then blend it out!  Everyones face is different so there is no wrong.  This is just a guide.  I honestly don't do it to this level for myself because I don't change my features.  I just highlight in certain areas to make me look awake and shadow areas to give me a more chiseled look sometimes.

For the Highlight, you guessed it! You get a light cream/power and place it in areas you want to stick out.  A popular place is under the eyes because it hides your dark circles and illuminates this area to create an illusion of being more awake, looking energetic etc. When placed in certain areas, this can alter your features slightly as well.  Marilyn Monroe use to extend the highlight under her eyes out and past and around her eye close to her eyebrows.  This gave her a wider and more open face.

A trick of Mine is I always do this stuff for job interviews and I'm telling you, it makes a grand difference!  It makes me look awake and ready, energetic, ready for the tasks ahead, healthy! lol, it looks like I got a good night of sleep which makes me look like I have good time management among other things I think.  It also just makes you look clean and neat and more attractive.  And if anything, doing that to my exterior gives me that kind of complex so It's just all a positive thing.

This is heavy contour.  There is also much lighter contours you can Google or better.. search it up on You Tube.  There are plenty of how to tutorials so you can see step by step how it's done!  I hope you guys try and enjoy!

Yayy! A make up blog.  I haven't done one of these in awhile so I wanted to kick it off right!  I will be having some more make up blogs coming up soon and I'm very excited!!

Happy Saturday and xoxo T

How to be Productive and Happier

How to be Productive & Happier

So I was watching another TED Talks on Netflix and I came across this guy who was talking about his theory on how to be more productive and how to attain happiness and success.  In short, he says in order to be productive or successful, you need to be happy first.. which is kind of the opposite of how we generally operate.  The way we think is, if I work harder then I'll be successful and if
I'm successful, then I'll be happy.  This concept is in our parenting styles, the way we manage style, and the way we motivate our behavior and he says the problem with that is that it is scientifically broken and backwards for 2 reasons:

1st, Every time your brain has a success, you just change the goal post of what success is.  If you got good grades, now you have to get better grades.  You got a job?.. Now you have to get a better job.  You have money?.. Now you have to get more money. You hit your sells target?.. Now we have to change your sells target and so on.  So if happiness is on the opposite side of success, your brain never gets there.

2nd, Our brains work in the opposite order from this.  The way our brains work is if you can raise someones optimism and happiness in the present, they perform drastically better and then success naturally follows.  Intelligence, creativity, and energy all rise and because of this, you become more productive!

Dopamine which floods the system when your positive has 2 functions.  Not only does it make you happy but it turns on all the learning centers in your brain.  Basically, he says to reverse the formula for happiness and success by training your brain to be positive.  That's basically it.  Change your brain to be positive and the rest should follow.  The next question would be, well how do you do that?  The answer is by working on it.
We work on everything else don't we?  Looks, Health, Money, Intelligence but not Happiness, the one thing we truley always wanted.  But don't worry.. He put together a list of things that will train your brain to be more positive.

1. Write down (3) things your grateful for everyday over a (21) day period.  This should retain a pattern of scanning the world for the positive first.
2.  He also recommends writing about one positive experience you had in the day.  Writing about a positive experience allows your brain to relive it.
3. Exercise.  He says exercise teaches your brain that your behavior matters.
4.  Random acts of kindness.  I think just doing things for others is like asking to be happy yourself.  That's why they say its better to give than it is to recieve.
5.  Meditation.  When you meditate and slow things down, you can watch your thoughts and understand them better which eliminates confusion and then worry.  I look at it as creating a balance mentally though I don't really meditate like that myself I do understand it.  What exercise does for the exterior, I would think meditation does for the interior in a way.
This list is a very generic list and doesn't need to necessarily be followed.  It's more like a starting point or a point of reference kind of thing.  Everyone works differently in my opinion and you know what works for you.  If you don't , you can try following this list but if you do, don't feel obligated to start writing and making sure you noticed 3 things everyday for a total of 21 days if you dont want to.  You have to do what you like or you wont stick to it anyway.

But I thought his whole theory of how we should go about success and happiness is spot on.  I know from personal experience that this is a real teaching because just looking back on my experiences, I either see how it's true or how it applies and have seen it work with my own eyes before even hearing this theory.  It just makes common sense.  So give it a try.  The next time your trying to get something done or are concerned with success happening right now in a frantic way, take a step back and regroup, find something to get positive about, find something to be optimistic about and go back to work with a renewed mind.

xoxo T

Putting it out into the Universe Part 2.

Putting it out into the Universe Part 2. <3

Three months ago I wrote a blog entitled putting it out into the universe.  I wanted to put on the internet and just put out into the world some things I was working on and wanted to be accomplished or at least be closer to accomplishing within 3 months time.  That blog was written in the beginning of my quarter this year.  The list was to have together my portfolio, to get through my quarter which is just all of my final classes including all the prep for my portfolio show, to do my testing for my first kyu brown belt, a new design job, and the last is kind of a two in one which was a new laptop and a specific software suite that I had been wanting for a few years now.  I don't know if that's a lot or not but yeah those were my goals.  So now to reveal what actually happened lol.

If you follow on twitter which I always say because I guess I share everything on there and all my updates and whats happening with me ends up being on there first or just there just because its easier for me.  Anyways, If you do, you've probably seen a few pics and heard me say some things which gave some of it away but firstly I'll share that I passed all my classes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I can say I will officially be a graduate of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mentioned in my last blog how big of a deal this was for me so yeah.  I'm very very proud of myself for that!!!  I guess I will mention what actually came into fruition and then what didn't lol.  So that happened so obviously I finished my portfolio too which was soo stressful at the time.  I'm just thankful it's aaall over.  Part of getting things together for the end of the quarter for graduating students (which I didn't know when writing the last blog) was that not only did you have to make a final portfolio, we also needed a design website and business cards and that we were actually participating in the portfolio show!!  So I made my business cards, my portfolio, did my portfolio show and my design website which is online right now!  It was stressful at the time because it was a very short amount of time to get all that together + my regular classes/projects but I did it!!  So I'm happy about that!  Then the next was my computer.  I was looking around for a computer for a little while and if you follow me on twitter you've already seen pics but I'm in love!  It was very important to me that my computer was pink.  I know that's silly but yeah, so I got my pink laptop that actually comes with a Photoshop elements which is kind of cool.  I use CS6, but if all else fails, then at least I have something.  For the software I decided that I don't want that suite anymore and am thinking about just finding one or two software's for cheap and just using those.  This year I also had been applying for freelance gigs around along with design jobs.  My goal was to have a regular 9 to 5 design job with a good company or that still is my goal because it's more concrete than freelance which sad to say I didn't get yet but I did get a few freelance gigs so I'm actually happy with that and I'm still trying for something so we will just see what happens.  I guess ideally I would write to you guys everyday for a living.  I would have that be my everyday 9 to 5 thing verses just doing blogs weekly/almost on the side kind of thing.  I would love that but right now that isn't possible so I will just have to settle for doing it how I am which is weekly.  Lastly,  For my first kyu brown belt,  I ended up not taking the test this time around because I had to take about a month off from training for personal reasons so by the time the test came around, I decided on my own not to take it because I felt I wasn't ready.  I'm still training and prepping for my 1st kyu testing which will probably be at the end of this year.  While I'm writing this,  I feel like I should do a part 3 to this just to see what ends up happening within that time.  Anyways,  I would say overall,  I am happy with what I accomplished within these 3 months!!!
Not only did I accomplish some of the goals I set out for this article but I accomplished something big by just starting this blog in general and everything that comes along with it!  The Facebook page, the Twitter page, the book club I just started which by the way, the author of the book read my article and retweeted me which was kind of a trip!  just everything really and honestly this all happened within the span of less than four months!  And honestly I have a lot more readers than I would expect in that very little bit of time.  Four months is a very short period to have regular readers and I do!  Not only regular readers but it's very international too!  I see all you guys in France, India, The United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and a few other places and everyone in the U.S and I appreciate you guys!!
You know that saying where they say shoot for the moon and if you miss, at least you land among the stars or something like that?  This moment kind of feels like that but better.  happy Wednesday! and as always..
