All About Lashes!!! <3

Hey Everyone!!!  I was gonna write this Monday but I just couldn't wait!  I hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday.  Today I wanted to do an article aaall about laaashes!  Lashes is another obsession of mine!  I looove lashes. I heart lashes! lol I don't really leave the house without them. I don't do any makeup look without it for the most part either.  Lashes are a way of life (or at least for me it is)!  So today I just wanted to do a little lashes talk 101(for newbie makeup users).

Brands and where to Buy <3:

So by now there are sooo many brands/styles to choose from and prices range from around $2-$200 from what I've seen around.  I know. Crazy right! For eyelashes! but yeah.  It's quite a range.  I've seen a lot on instagram as well.  Brands like sugar pill that go for around $7-$9.  This is the general price for them at beauty stores like sally's which is a popular place to get lashes.  I like to go the more affordable route for lashes and I've been using a brand called Cherry Blossom for years.  It's one of my fav brands and these go for $1.99 so 2 bucks.  Not bad.  And these are actually 100% human hair also.  These can be purchased at any regular beauty supply store.  You can see what they look like below! 

I like to get them thick and fake lol.  I don't care about it looking realistic.  I actually prefer the fake look.  I like super thick and long lashes.  Cherry Blossom carries many styles and also much thinner and realistic looking ones for those looking for that look.  I also prefer the strip lashes like these which tends to add to the fakeness but I love it!  And also these are the easiest to apply!  I'll go over how to apply in just a bit.

Types of Lashes<3:

 There are 2 types of lashes essentially.  There are the strip ones like the ones above. These are the lashes that are already on a strip so you just put them on all in one step.  Then there are the individuals that look like this.

Doesn't that already look complicated?  ugh.  But some people like these because you have more control over how your lashes look in the end.  Also, people who get these tend to want the more natural look.  They come in little bundles and you just place them where you would like to add fullness to your natural lashes.  

Also, the nail shop now does lashes so they professionally put on these individual kind of lashes for you.  It's a little different though.  They use a certain adhesive to where they stay on for a certain amount of weeks I believe.  You can shower in them and everything.  This cost about $60 but the price ranges from place to place.  I think they also do this at some beauty counters as well.  I've seen them and it looks gorgeous!  Better than strips and doing it by yourself.  You can really see the difference with having it professionally done.

The best Adhesive!<3:  

There is also 2 types of adhesives or main adhesives.  You have the squeezy tube and then the ones where you apply it on with a brush.  I used all my duo lash glue (the squeezy tube) but it looks like this.

This is the best one of the options.  The brush one seems as if it would be best but I'll show you why it isn't.  I have some that I've been using and they look like this.

    

These are a black and white adhesive by Revlon. But look.  Here's why it's not good.  First, It's already difficult to apply to the lash (like trying to brush onto a flimzy lash), then after time, the brush ends up looking like this.

   

All the bristles end up sticking out all over the place and it makes it even harder to apply. Lesson learned.  I will never buy brush glue again lol.  Also, getting colored adhesive seems as if it would be the best but its very messy.  It usually doesnt dry clear and also, applying black glue to a black eyelash isnt really the best either.  You can't see how much your applying or if you got the whole strip etc because it just blends it.  With the white glue, you can actually see what your applying and it drys completely clean.  So word from the wise, just get white duo lash glue (the squeezy tube kind).  This can be purchased at all stores.  It's the most popular adhesive (and for good reason I've learned lol).  Any beauty store (off brand/on brand) should have it.  

Now how to apply<3:  

Applying can be tricky.  It can actually be kinda stressful if your new to it.  There's been some days where I was like f that!.. ripped off the lashes and just walked out the house lol.  But once you get it, it becomes easy as pie and takes like 2 seconds.  There's no right way to do it but here's how I do it.  First, I use tweezers to apply.  Not my fingers.  This helps me a lot in precision.  I have the lash in the tweezers and I apply the adhesive to the lash.  I blow on it and wait a bit for it to get tacky, get very close to the mirror and set it in the center of my lid.  I wait a few seconds, then pin down the edges and it's good to go!  2 steps and you go from regular to drama!! 

And those are all the lashes basics!

(Blog Revamp!!!)

Hey everyone!  Tis Monday again.  That means "the good wendy" is on today.  What I mean by that is the entire show is hot topics which is the best part of the show.  Dancing with the stars is on today!  Man I been missin this aall week.  For some reason, it feels like it's been 2 weeks since I last seen it.  I had to check my dvr to be sure lol.  By the way, DVR's are like heaven in a little box!  I feel like dvrs should be just the way of life. Like a normal thing.  Like how the majority of people have smartphones these days.. Like it's just a way of life now.  Everyone should have dvrs like that. And of course last but not least, an article from me! =) 

This week I just wanted to go over a few updates with TrixieLuxx!  If you been reading you may or may not have seen the "blog revamp" I did a little bit ago.  I loooove it!  It's by way of laptop (the full version) so if you haven't checked it out, check it out!  I do kinda wish that my older blogs would stay in the old style just for like chronicling purposes but it's one continuous page so if I change one, I change it all.  But I do have a pic of the old TrixieLuxx that I took before hand.

I love it soo much!  Also! I added a feature where this blog can be translated into 80 different languages!  The feature is at the bottom underneath my profile.

Then you just select your language like so.

I selected Japanese.  Then you just wait a few seconds so it can translate and 

viola! You can read it in that language! I thought that was really cool.Ever since I started this blog, I noticed how international it was from the very start.  I get a lot of views from all over the world and I think that's SO freaking amazing!  The internet truly makes the world so small.  I love how I can write an article and it can reach someone in China or Israel and all these places.  It's like this platform to reach the world!

Happy Halloween Readers!!!!! 

Fall is a wonderful time.  It's a time to dress up, go shopping,enjoy the beautiful overcast skies and so fourth.  Fall is my FAV season if you didn't know and though it's still kinda hot in cali ( though it has cooled down =) ), there is still magic in the air!  This is my Halloween article for this year so I am saying an early happy Halloween to all of you!!!  

I am all about the budgeting so I came up with a super cute {$10 DOLLAR LOOK} for moms out there shopping for your little ones and pre teens and even inspiration for yourselves!  I just love this kind of shopping and getting creative and I hope it gives inspo to ppl wanting to be festive budgetnista style!!! Let's get into it!!

I dressed my little sis up this Halloween and it was super fun!  She said she wanted to be a vampire but also.. Ariana Grande lol.  So we decided to go for a vampire Ariana Grande look.  The first thing I got was this.

   
The majority of the things were from a company called Happy Halloween.  This was my first time trying this company and I would say it's very good quality stuff for the price!! No complaints!  This was a decorative choker necklace with lace at the top and bottom.  I got this for $1 dollar!  Yes!! lol  By the way, I will list below all the prices for every single item mentioned and where I purchased them! 

The second thing I got was too pretty to not get!  It's a glitter mask, also from Happy Halloween.  Isn't that pretty?  I decided to make it a vampire/ masquerade look.  It doesn't seem to match in theory but actually came out very very pretty. I think it makes it unique and also adds a sultry kind of touch to it.   

The next thing we got was a bouquet of black roses and 2 silver pearl necklaces! 

These are the accessories and prop.  I thought the black bouquet was super pretty!  (By the way, I went to a discount Halloween store in Torrance that had single black roses for double the price of this whole bouqet!)  I got the silver pearls to add more pizzazz to the outfit!

I also got a little Halloween makeup!

    

These were the products that I wasn't too impressed with but we made it work.  The fake scar was the worst.  Its just a brown creamy substance.  Whatever it is your suppose to do with that, I could have did with whatever I have at home in my makeup box.  But the fake blood was good.  Very realistic looking.  Much better than trying to create the look with red lipstick or a pencil.  I also got the blanc (white) cream for a ghostly pale look! 

Now on to the outfit! 

  

I got this shimmery, kind of lacy and tattered skirt for a girly look.  These skirts and all the skirts they had actually run very small.  My sister is very skinny so she was able to fit.  I think the skirts weren't for her age group (pre teen/teens).  They were meant for like kid kids so for things like this, that's something to keep in mind.  You just have to work with what you can when on a budget.  

I layered this purple fluffy ballerina skirt on top to add a pop of color.  I wanted it to be dark but not like a gothic look so I decided to make the theme black and purple.

  
The next thing I got is technically a garland.  It's a pretty glittery and sparkly bat garland with sequin.  I love anything that is sequin!  I used this as kind of like a belt so that the bats hang over the skirts to add a pattern to it.

And the rest of all the things are from home!  You just get creative!  I went with an all black outfit so black jeans and a slinky black top with a black mini sweater on top. And black heels to match! I added a black studded belt of mine to hide the seams of the skirt.  I also added a few accessories of mine which is the big silver ring with the purple stone and the glitzy bracelet. For earrings, we went with just regular studs since that's what Ariana Grande seems to wear.  Then you just start layering and decorating!  She said she wanted to look like Ariana Grande so I looked up some tutorials for Ariana Grande looks on youtube.  I just typed in Ariana Grande hair tutorial. I also looked at a few pictures to get the idea for makeup and hair.  Makeup and hair are the bigger parts of the outfit to me.  I think most attention should be paid there.  We started by straightening all her hair bone straight and then I did half up, half down in a really high pony tail.  I then took a strand from the back of the pony tail and   wrapped it around to create a hair band around the pony tail.  I made a part to the side and pulled all her hair in front.

For makeup, I used the Ulta Beauty Treasures kit.(i'll link the whole review below just in case you haven't seen. 70 piece kit at Ulta for only 20 bucks. Makeup box included!) 

For makeup I used the "brownie" shade for her lids and under the eye.  I also used the Ulta lipstick in "raisin". 

 I used a lemonade highlighter for under the brows from benefit.  I used my Anastasia brow wiz for the brows. Blush,liner, mascara and then the look was done!

Not too bad I think. And she loved it!  She said this has been her most favorite Halloween costume she ever had!  And all her costumes before have been at least $60+ usually from party city and random Halloween stores.Costumes are expensive!! And that's even when you don't get all the accessories/ shoes and extra stuff.  This has actually been my favorite Halloween costume of hers too and only $10 bucks!

I saved the best for last.  I mentioned earlier that I would tell you the price of each item listed and where I got it.  Everything mentioned in this article was 99 cents!!! And everything was purchased at your local 99 cents store!!!

Crazy right?!! lol yep. frugality is an art really.

Why being single is Awesome!

Hey everyone!  I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday!   So, today was suppose to be my EPIC Halloween article but long story short, (I don't have all my pics!) *tears* But it will be up ASAP for the people who haven't gotten their costumes yet.  Gotta role with the punches. Anywho, in the meantime I thought I'd write an article that may be perfect for this season/time of year.  Why being single is Awesome!  This is one of those evening cozy articles so get into the covers, pour a glass of wine and keep reading!

I have to say, I am a single girl and honestly, I am the happiest I ever been in my entire life!  I don't really like to talk about this much on my blog really because I guess it feels weird to proclaim that to the world? Idk.. But it's true and it's the realist and most comfortable happiness I've ever had really.  I want to share because I feel that many people don't get to experience what I'm experiencing or maybe they want to but don't know how.  I would think many want to but don't know how.  If you ever wondered if there is such thing as happiness outside of a relationship, there is! And I am not just talking about being content!  I mean full blown happiness!!  It takes a bit of living and a certain understanding of life to have it I think though. 

Soo how do you get to that place?  I think the path is different for everyone. But I will say that a big part of it is deciding that you aren't going to rely on others for your happiness.  It's being aware enough to understand that that is your downfall. It's the looking to others for a certain feeling that in actuality, you can have on your own.  If you never break the habit of looking to others for your happiness, (this can include friends as well actually) your always going to be chasing it in people and things.  You have to be one of those people where being independent is important to you.  I know that that is me! It's much more important for me to be a stand alone woman than anything in some ways.  I need to feel like  I can stand by myself and handle things by myself or I won't be fully happy.  It's just who I am.  I think because of that, in my past I've declined relationships, pushed people away, pushed through being alone at the time when it was hardest for me and I really felt like I needed someone there, to in some ways prove to myself that I didn't.  I didn't know but at the time, being single wasn't necessarily what made me sad. It was in some ways, knowing deep inside that I wasn't strong enough to handle things on my own.  In retrospect, that was what really hurt me. And I didn't even know.  But now that I am over those hurdles in my life, or reached the top of the mountain, I can say it is the most beautiful thing ever!  I don't think there's anything like it!  And I will tell you what it feels like!  It feels like freedom. It feels like happiness.  It feels like worry free,care free, anxiety free.  It feels like I don't need anything or anyone.  It feels like luxury and glamorous and like delicious! lol.  That's how I can describe it! But it takes time to get to this place. So here are some reasons why being single is fab for the lonely hearts out there! 

1. There is nothing, and I mean nothing in this world like being able to enjoy life by yourself.  It's like luxury at it finest or something.

2. No need to worry about cheating, other women etc.. 

3. No need to worry about STD's because of cheating, other women etc.. lol

4. No need to worry about pregnancy scares. Nuff said lol

5. No responsibilities of a relationship because it definitely does take a certain time and effort you have to put into it. Calling everyday, making sure everything is good with that person etc..  

6.  No need to worry if your significant other still finds you attractive, interesting etc.. 

7.  No need to worry if things are getting boring and how you can fix it etc..

8. You don't need to pay hyper attention to how you look. Like do I look pretty. Do I look fat right now etc.. 

It's like you just live and enjoy life.  That's why I said it's like freedom and no worries lol.  You don't gotta worry about aall thiis stufff. It's like hakuna matata up in here lol. When I look back to my 19 year old self, I don't even know how I dealt with all that and working 2 jobs and going to school.  And I think I was trying to start a business on the side at that time too.  Just tooo much! I don't have even half the worries alot of people I know in relationships have right now though I do know some happy couples.  There is such thing as being happy in love also!

One day, I will be ready for all that stuff again but right now hunty! No! lol 

I hope this article brought joy and light to the pretty single girls at home right now reading this.My heart feels for you if you are going through a broken heart right now and I've been there and I understand.  Even to the pretty single guys reading it too.  Everyone needs some lovin! Umm.. yes..

Ulta Beauty Treasures!!! (70 pc Collection) Review!!!!

Hey everyone!  Bonus blog tonight because 1. I am very excited!.. and 2. I didn't want to wait till next Monday so that these are still in stock just in case anyone wanted to purchase one themselves!  Let's get into it!

So I was going through my mail on a casual day and I saw the ulta magazine/catalog I normally get in the mail.  To be honest, I normally just throw this away just because I'm budgeting and I'm not trying to tempt myself and end up finding something I like anyway! lol Trouble averted.. But.. on the back of cover of the magazine I saw this..

Pink makeup box! cheetah print on the inside! and also a 70 piece collection inside!!! only $20!!!!  

That is like unheard of! The best deal I came across this year by far!  aaaand, ulta always has coupons in their mags so I clipped that. This one was right below.

This deal was just enough to use this coupon to add with it and it came out to $16.50!!!! what?! 16 bucks for a 70 piece kit inside of a makeup box!!! Too good to pass up so I went straight to Ulta! I hurried because I was afraid they would run out. I also asked for them to put it on hold.  You can put products on hold for that entire day at ulta just fyi.  The kit comes in pink and neutral only.  Even without looking inside, it's already a good deal but lucky if you haven't purchased and are reading this blog first because I'm gonna show you everything you get!

Here is a look inside!  

   
The first palette is a mix of shimmer and matte shadows. All products in this kit are the ulta makeup brand by the way which I've heard is a quality brand.  I've never personally tried it before so this is a first time experience for me.  There is 32 shadows and 3 applicators in the first palette. All fall colors as well!! ^_^ 

  
When you first open the kit, this is on top which is a little mini booklet that tells you everything inside the box and also all the ingredients of each product.

  

Also, you get a $5 dollar coupon for any skincare or brushes valid at ulta and ulta.com. P.S I am not sponsored for this article.  This blog is too small for sponsorship anyways lol.  This is a kit I got myself (not from any company) so my review/ opinions are just that. My REAL feelings on the product (good and bad).  So back to this beauty box lol.  This is everything you get inside! 

Soo much right?  The one closest in the picture is another palette of matte and shimmer shadows.  All really pretty colors perfect for fall.  There are 18 shadows and the 6 slots to the right are all gel eyeliners! 

This is the mini palette you get in the center which is like a little portable one!  It's a mix of pastel and warm colors.

These are the blushes, bronzers, lip products and pencils you get!  The pencils are double sided which is kinda nice.  I really like the blush as well. It's very pigmented!  The brush however not so much.  I've never had a brush like that (like that shape) but I don't really like how it applys and also the bristles are not as good quality as some other brushes.

You get 2 lipsticks, 2 shiny colored glosses which I really liked those!  You also get to pencils, one in bronze and the other in black.  I took some swatches of the pencil and lipsticks for consistency.

  

The red shiny gloss is my favorite! And here is a look at the makeup box all emptied out! 

So pretty right?  This is also a good quality makeup box.  I can tell by the weight, how it functions etc and it's good!  Normally, any makeup box alone would have cost the same or more than this entire kit!  That's a big reason why it's such a good deal.

  
Here's a pic of the depth of the drawers inside.  I like to get detailed with it! lol Three drawers and good depth also. Honestly, I would have spent the same on just the makeup box alone. I LOVE it!  The only negative about this product is the actual palette holder?  I dont know what to call that.  The thing that is holding the shadows and everything.  It's very weird and it's odd to take in and out of the makeup box but at the same time, I dont think I'll get rid of it because it holds the shadows so nicely. Idk, but I'm definitely gonna have to figure out something for that.  Other than that, I loove it.  Great product. Even greater deal!  Here's a pic of the exterior. 

I think you can really get the feel of the makeup box through this picture.  Like I said, thee best deal I came across this year!  I'm pretty sure they are still going so if haven't, head over to Ulta!

Good evening readers!  Today I wanted to talk about something I've been wanting to talk about on this blog for awhile..  I did a review on the book curvy and loving it and it inspired some self love article ideas for this blog!  I said I was going to do it.. and I forgot! lol. Welcome to trixie's world.  I'm a scatter brained person and things slip my mind lol. Actually, I am an all over the place person but that's besides the point.  I said I was gonna write one of these so I am!  I decided to share a list of reasons why the beauty standard in America is full of shit basically.

If you read my book review, I shared one reason there which was..

1) The beauty standard is ever changing.  If something is ever changing, there is no pleasing it!  Like I said before, 10 years ago, what was beautiful was something WAY different than it is now.  And that was only 10 years ago..  In the 90's, an athletic build was in.  Now it's "curvy" (in the right places of course lol).  At this day and time, "tan" is in. But at one point, pale was something that was the standard.  My point is these things are ever changing and in the end, don't even matter anyways.  ALL things are a trend! Remember this!  (not just weight but skin color, features, hair, anything to do with beauty is a trend just like any new purse or whatever.  One day it's in and one day it's out.  If being "tan" is all the rage, it won't be all the rage forever even if it's been this way for some time.  Even if it's been this way most of your life (for teens that may be reading).  To you, it will seem as though this always was and always will be that way but I'm here to tell you it's not! One day something new will be in because that is the natural nature of things.  Change will happen because it has to.. 

2) The beauty standard differs from place to place.  When you realize that the beauty standard is different everywhere, you start to not hold it in your mind as this canon or concrete thing.  It starts to become what it actually is and that is merely a way of seeing things (or better yet, just a way you've been taught to see something).  I had a color theory class when I was in art school and my professor talked about different colors and the meaning of colors.  As you would guess, colors mean different things around the world too.  In America, white is a symbol for purity.  As Americans, because of this, we see the color white as innocent, pure, and things of this nature while red is that color for Japan if I'm not mistaken.  Basically, the meaning changes by culture.  The feeling of it changes by culture and it isn't a universal thing so to some degree, isn't really real.  It's almost just like an idea or just a way of looking at it that we all learned at a very young age.  So the way colors make us feel isn't necessarily natural either.  It was something we were taught to feel.  As with weight,beauty, whatever feeling comes up with that, we were taught to feel as well. So if you ever hated yourself for the way you look or something, just remember that this was taught to you.  And as it was taught, it can be relearned!  Almost like copying over what was there before and replacing it with something new.  If you ever feel others are judging you for your appearance.. Maybe they feel you are too big or not an attractive person according to them.  Remember that this was also just something that they learned as well. Just like you.  

3)We don't really see things as attractive or not attractive.  If you ever worried you weren't pretty enough, or not young enough, or not skinny enough, or not buff enough or whatever, we don't even necessarily see these things anyway.  We don't see your weight or muscle mass as attractive or not attractive.  We see the meaning attached to those things that we learned and decide from there if THAT is attractive based upon the way our society already sees things.  Basically I'm saying, don't even regard others opinions on your looks because they are half the time, already fixed opinions and they aren't even truly that individuals opinion.  They are an opinion in some ways society has deemed as okay.  It's almost not even anything.So don't fret!  

4) Studies show men of this day and time like something that doesn't even technically exist lol.  Not to dig at men because they go through the same things we do but for the women, I've heard studies of men choosing the perfect body type and they all or the majority chose something that wasn't even real lol. And in some ways, who could blame because all the media isn't real... but very much so glamorized and what it does is brainwash the public.

These things are things that have to be known!  I hope this article is helpful to women (and men too) struggling with self love.  Self love is the most beautiful thing you can have!  Don't rob yourself of it just because you live in a world that doesn't embrace it.  We all have things society doesn't embrace to a degree so every single person can relate to what I'm saying here.  But this article is not saying to forget about health and just do as you please.  You have to be healthy and conscious but in the same breath, LOVE yourself for today!  Don't wait till you've lost that 5 pounds or so. Think about that.. That is ridiculous.  Love yourself NOW! Right NOW! Flaws and all!  

If you think about it, having flaws helps you to love yourself in an unconditional way(not when things are all perfect but when they are a mess). If you love yourself but not when your a mess, then it's not unconditional.  You love yourself conditionally (only when things are right).  I think most people desire that in this life.  An unconditional kind of love.  But then we don't even give that to ourselves!  Make that change tonight and decide that you will not only love yourself but love yourself unconditionally (as you are)!
